CRISPR and Lilly Walk Into the Same 75-Minute Window Tomorrow

Tomorrow morning in Chicago, the American Heart Association’s LBS.05 session opens at 8:00 a.m. CT and closes at 9:15 a.m. CT. Inside that window, two companies will disclose clinical data that investors have never seen before. CRISPR Therapeutics will present Phase 1b data for CTX310 in patients with severe hypertriglyceridemia. On the same stage, Eli Lilly will deliver Phase 3 results from ATTAIN-OSA, testing its oral GLP-1 agonist orforglipron in obstructive sleep apnea. Per the American Heart Association’s embargo policy for late-breaking science, the details are locked until the moment each presentation begins, and both names trade actively during regular hours.

The AI Boom’s Most Profitable “Tollbooth” Stock?

A little-known company is quietly building what may be the closest thing to a virtual monopoly the AI era has ever seen.

Whitney Tilson – the man CNBC calls “The Prophet” – calls it the world’s most profitable tollbooth. One billionaire put more than half his $9 billion fund into it.

Right now it’s trading at a rare discount…the same kind that’s previously turned $10,000 into $55,000…in just over 12 months.

The Trade Before the Data Drops

This is a binary event structure on two separate names, compressing into a single session. That is unusual. It is also the kind of situation where defined-risk options positions bought ahead of disclosure can offer asymmetric reward, because the premium at risk is capped and the potential move is not.

Start with CRSP. CRISPR Therapeutics is not trading near $50 heading into this Monday morning window. It is closer to the mid-$60s, and its cited 52-week range in the draft does not match widely published quote data. With that context corrected, the setup still holds: CTX310 is a true readout catalyst, and the stock can move on efficacy or safety signals.

On the science: the most widely reported one-year follow-up for CTX310’s first-in-human program showed durable lipid effects at the highest dose cohort (0.8 mg/kg), including a mean ANGPTL3 reduction of 78.6% and mean LDL reduction of 52.5%, with triglycerides also reduced. That prior update was associated with American Heart Association coverage of CTX310’s Phase 1 program, not an August ESC moment. Tomorrow’s Phase 1b data is specifically in severe hypertriglyceridemia, and if efficacy and safety hold up in that cohort, the market reaction could be sharp.

The bull call spread fits cleanly here. With CRSP near current levels, buying the November 14 $52/$60 call spread captures meaningful upside on a strong readout while limiting total exposure to premium paid. Time decay works against you, but the catalyst lands Monday morning, so theta drag is minimal before the event resolves.

You Don’t Have to Predict the Crash

Nobody knows exactly when the AI boom ends. Fortunately, Garrett Goggin says you don’t need to. Because gold miners are already producing record-high cash flow and profits – and yet mining still makes up only about 1% of global equities. Porter Stansberry recently called Garrett, “THE most knowledgeable gold analyst in the world.” Calling on 100-years of market returns, Garrett identified a pattern for knowing when money will stampede out of growth/AI stocks and into gold miners… and the four best miners to own before institutional money discovers the same trade.

Go here for details on Garrett’s four “Great Rotation” gold miners.

Lilly: Lower Volatility, Broader Market Implications

LLY is a different animal. On November 5, Eli Lilly shares closed at about $1,364.73, within a 52-week range of roughly $850.51 to $1,453.00. The stock is not distressed. It is about a $1.2 trillion company where a successful ATTAIN-OSA readout extends the orforglipron commercial opportunity into an entirely new indication.

The rationale for the trial rests on the observation that GLP-1-class weight loss can reduce obstructive sleep apnea severity, a mechanism already supported by tirzepatide’s OSA program. Many clinical observers expect ATTAIN-OSA to read out positively. Still, this is a binary event: if the effect size disappoints, or if tolerability and adherence issues show up in a way the market does not like, the stock can react.

Tolerability is the variable the market consistently underweights in GLP-1 readouts. Discontinuation rates in Lilly’s combination obesity programs have already shown how quickly a strong efficacy number can be overshadowed by adherence data.

When consensus expects a positive read but the stock has pulled back sharply in the last session (LLY fell about 3.8% on November 5), the options market sometimes underprices the upside on a confirmation. A November 14 call spread, struck just above current price, offers participation in a relief and expansion rally without requiring LLY to make an outsized move. The defined-risk structure matters here: a miss or an inconclusive result at this valuation would sting.

LLY’s options pricing does not exist in a vacuum — it reflects a stock that has already demonstrated it can move sharply on fundamental catalysts. Lilly’s pattern of beating consensus by wide margins and raising guidance repeatedly has conditioned the market to expect confirmation, not surprise.

The Third Name in the Room

The same 8:00 a.m. CT session also features TYDAL-TIMI 78, a randomized trial of ANGPTL4 inhibition with MAR001 in adults with elevated triglycerides and remnant cholesterol concentrations. The corporate linkage in the draft is reversed: Lisata Therapeutics announced it acquired Marea Therapeutics, rather than Marea being developed as a Lisata subsidiary from the start. LSTA is a small-cap name with high binary risk. Position sizing discipline is essential.

The Beast Verdict

Three first-time data disclosures, one 75-minute session, all during market hours on a Monday. The asymmetry is real, and the structure is clean. CRSP is the primary focus: a catalyst-heavy name, strong Phase 1 precedent for ANGPTL3 editing, and a specifically designed Phase 1b cohort reading out in severe hypertriglyceridemia. LLY is the lower-volatility complement, where consensus already leans positive but the market has handed back recent gains heading into the event.

What invalidates the CRSP trade: weaker efficacy in the sHTG-specific cohort, any new safety signal, or a result that underwhelms relative to the durability shown at the highest-dose cohort previously reported. For LLY: a miss on the study’s primary efficacy outcome, or results that look too dependent on weight loss alone to support a broader mechanism story. Buy defined risk before 8:00 a.m. CT tomorrow, and let the data do the rest.
